Job Title: Heavy Machinery Operator - Timber Industry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front End Loader Operator to join our client's team at their hardwood sawmill located in the Kempsey area.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position requiring the successful candidate to safely operate a Front End Loader, unload logs off log trucks, lay logs out and measure to establish maximum recovery, feed logs into mill to ensure continuous production, transport logs from log yard to mill log deck, operate chainsaw to cut logs off, and perform equipment preventative maintenance checks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate Front End Loader to facilitate efficient timber processing
  • Unload logs from log trucks with precision and care
  • Lay out and measure logs to maximize recovery
  • Feed logs into the mill to maintain continuous production levels
  • Transport logs between log yard and mill log deck
  • Operate chainsaw to cut logs to size
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
Requirements:
  • Proven experience operating heavy machinery, particularly Front End Loaders
  • Holding a current driver's license and owning reliable transportation
  • Prior experience with chainsaw operation and holding a relevant ticket would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with Australian hardwood timber species would be beneficial
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and manage conflicts
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Physically fit for labor-intensive duties
Compensation and Benefits:
