Primary Care Physician

This is a permanent part-time General Practitioner opportunity at Ramsay Clinic Cairns. The role offers a minimum of 16 hours a fortnight, Monday to Friday with 3-4 hour shifts over the fortnight.
As a General Practitioner, you will support the care provided by the Treating Psychiatrist and work collaboratively with other team members to provide medical services to patients.
The successful candidate will have a strong ability to assess patient needs and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct systematic assessments to identify patient needs and develop treatment plans in collaboration with Visiting Medical Officers (Psychiatrists).
- Provide high-quality medical care based on professional standards and hospital policies.
- Prioritise and manage patient care effectively.
- Support colleagues in clinical problem-solving and act as a resource person for staff.
- Assist with education and training of clinical staff and medical students as required.
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate activities with other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure medication management and documentation comply with legal requirements and hospital policies.
- Manage medical emergencies and code situations effectively.
Requirements
- AHPRA registration and fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners are essential qualifications for this role.
- A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience as a General Practitioner is required.
- The ideal candidate should be competent in providing advanced life support measures and possess effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working in an acute mental health care facility is desirable but not essential.
