About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Risk Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our client's Line 2 Risk team, focusing on superannuation. The successful candidate will provide specialist knowledge and leadership in risk management, ensuring that superannuation products and services comply with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice to the business on identifying, assessing, and managing key risks, particularly in relation to superannuation products and services.
- Collaborate with Line 1 (business operations) to ensure risk mitigation strategies are appropriately implemented and monitored.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of risk frameworks and policies, ensuring they are in line with regulatory standards (e.g., APRA, ASIC, and other relevant bodies).
- Prepare and present risk reports to senior management and relevant committees, identifying emerging risks and proposing mitigation actions.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and developments in the superannuation industry, ensuring the organization's risk management practices are compliant with all relevant regulations.
- Provide guidance and support during internal and external audits, as well as regulatory reviews.
- Lead the investigation and analysis of incidents, providing insights and recommending actions to prevent recurrence.
- Facilitate the root cause analysis process and ensure timely and accurate incident reporting to regulators, where applicable.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in Line 2 risk within superannuation (A MUST HAVE).
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing superannuation, including APRA Prudential Standards and ASIC guidelines.
- Demonstrated expertise in operational and compliance risk management, ideally within a Line 2 Risk function.
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools and techniques, including risk appetite, risk tolerance, and key risk indicators.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- High-level understanding of superannuation products and the broader financial services industry.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively drive a risk-aware culture across teams.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
