Sterilising Department Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated sterilising department professional to excel in our Launceston General Hospital environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic setting, responsible for the identification, handling, decontamination, packaging, sterilisation and dispatch of Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs) distributed to various departments and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, handle, decontaminate, package, sterilise and dispatch Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs).
  • Distribute processed RMDs to the Operating Room Suite, internal wards/departments, and external customers.
  • Follow infection control principles applicable to sterilisation department processes and procedures as guided by AS5369:2023 Standard.
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures and participate in multidisciplinary team activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, sterilising technology and/or qualifications in, or willingness to undertake, a Sterilising Technology course.
  • Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of instruments/equipment processed in the sterilising department and to initiate appropriate action following decontamination and sterilisation protocols.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles applicable to sterilisation department processes and procedures.
