
Aboriginal Community Mental Health Specialist

This specialist role is dedicated to delivering culturally sensitive mental health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. The successful applicant will be responsible for assessing and addressing the complex needs of this community, including mental health challenges, addiction, and social-emotional wellbeing.
The position requires a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and current issues facing these communities. As a clinical psychologist, you will work within a counselling service model, providing holistic care and support to clients. This includes conducting assessments, developing tailored treatment therapies, and maintaining accurate client records in accordance with best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive assessments of client behaviour and social-emotional wellbeing using observation, interviews, and psychometric tests.
- Develop, administer, and monitor evidence-based treatment therapies to address client needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with policies and AHPRA requirements.
- Ensure all counselling sessions are documented in the Medicare billing system and verify relevant referrals.
- Participate in regular training and professional development activities to maintain expertise.
- Hold active registration with AHPRA as a psychologist.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with clinical professionals and community services.
- AHPRA registration as a psychologist.
- National Criminal Record Check.
- Working with Children Check.
- Immunisation Record, including proof of required vaccinations.
