About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Operations Manager to lead our workers compensation claims team in Queensland. As a key member of our Coles Group Self Insurance team, you will play a critical role in protecting our team members, customers, and business from workers compensation and public liability risks.

In this challenging and rewarding position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to manage claims effectively, reduce liabilities, and mitigate reputational risk. You will lead a high-performing team of claims specialists, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver outstanding results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across Coles brands to ensure effective claims management and minimize liabilities and reputational risk.
  • Engaging with business leaders to provide trusted advice on claims management and minimise current and future claims' risks.
  • Building team capability in understanding drivers of successful return-to-work claims management and implementing strategies to achieve strong return-to-work outcomes.
  • Continuously improving operational claims management processes and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in workers compensation, preferably in a self-insured organisation.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills to develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels to get the right outcomes.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, conflict management, and resolution skills to navigate complex claims scenarios.
