Senior Building Compliance Specialist

The City is seeking a skilled Building Compliance Specialist to join our Compliance and Emergency Liaison team. This role involves enforcing laws within the jurisdictional area of the City, conducting inspections, leading investigations into suspected breaches of building and development compliance legislation, and preparing legal actions for enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
This position requires:
- To understand, interpret and apply relevant building and development legislation, including local laws and policies.
- To conduct thorough inspections and investigations into suspected breaches of the law, and prepare legal actions for enforcement.
- To provide mentoring and support to junior Compliance Officers.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Practical experience in compliance/enforcement in Local Government or State Government or other relevant area.
- Sound analytical and decision making skills.
- Sound negotiation and interpersonal skills.
