Job Overview

The State Taxes team is a market leading, dynamic and fun group that works on significant transactions in the Australian market. Our clients cover various sectors, including private equity, infrastructure, property, financial services and more.

You will work on diverse day-to-day tasks while collaborating directly with our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Due Diligence - Assist in buy-side and sell-side due diligence processes, focusing on risk assessment and clear communication.
  • Structuring - Advise on duty consequences of mergers, acquisitions, restructures and divestments.
  • Post-Deal Implementation - Identify duty obligations and prepare submissions for lodgements, applications, rulings and objections with revenue authorities.
  • Advisory - Conduct tax research, provide advice on tax planning opportunities and assist clients in managing tax risks.
  • Updates - Stay up-to-date with developments in state taxes and participate in training sessions.

You will build relationships with various clients, particularly in infrastructure, property, energy and natural resources, financial services and funds industries, providing valued advice and assistance with duty and land tax compliance, planning and disputes resolution.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Completed Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Commerce or Economics. Recent M&A/transactional experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong personal initiative and willingness to take responsibility for your work.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
