Job Opportunity: Specialist Tax Advisor

This role is a key position in supporting the business, primarily focusing on providing specialist tax advice to ensure adequate and proactive responses to business opportunities and risk.

The Specialist Tax Advisor will be responsible for identifying and resolving technical problems by facilitating solutions individually or as part of a cross-functional team.

Some key deliverables and responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice on complex businesses and transactions while balancing value and risk.
  • Interacting with Global and Regional teams to ensure cross-border issues are properly managed.
  • Maintaining expertise in country tax advice and structuring, including knowledge sharing with fellow team members.
  • Monitoring developments and changes in tax laws and ensuring businesses are being properly advised and implemented.
  • Building and maintaining cooperative relationships with revenue authorities consistent with the Shell Responsible Tax Principles.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Broad experience in business taxation working for multinational businesses or professional firms.
  • Recognised professional qualification and membership of a recognised accounting or legal professional body.
  • Effective communication of complex tax issues, both written and oral.
  • Establishing and maintaining external relationships for the benefit of the organisation.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence others within and outside of the organisation.
  • Able to evaluate tax risks, balance risk with business objectives, and make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate, and supportive of the business.
