Health and Building Surveyor Position

We are seeking an experienced Health and Building Surveyor to join our team on a full-time ongoing basis.

The successful candidate will work with the Manager Building and Development and Building Surveyors to provide a quality environmental health and building service, as well as provide technical health and building expertise and advice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical health and building expertise and advice to staff and the public on health and building related matters.
  • Meet deadlines associated with assessment of applications and other statutory certificates and applications as required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through clear and accurate advice at the front counter and in correspondence.
  • Represent the council at meetings and guide development within the region to achieve good quality building outcomes.
  • Respond to correspondence and coordinate programs to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying.
  • At least one year's experience in Local Government Development Control and Health environment.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
  • Current registration as a Building Surveyor - Restricted (Class 1 & 10 Buildings) or Current registration as a Building Surveyor - Restricted (All classes of Buildings).
  • General Construction Induction Card.
  • Ability to communicate and interact on technical issues with internal and external clients.
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques.
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills.
