Job Overview

This position involves leading the design, development and modification of civil/structural components and processes. It requires a high level of technical expertise to ensure that the unique requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering with experience in the mining and metals industry. They will be responsible for conducting field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects.

The role also involves scheduling, conducting or coordinating detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group. This includes the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work
  • Prepare original designs, layouts, details, drawings and specifications
  • Design structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
  • Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete
  • Originates and checks structural engineering deliverables
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong background in structural engineering
  • Experience in the mining and metals industry
  • Deep knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to civil discipline
