This is professional legal work for a judge, involving research and related clerical/administrative tasks. Work is performed under general supervision.
Responsibilities include reviewing laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, and legal authorities. Preparing memoranda, orders, and draft opinions with suggestions or recommendations to the judge. Compiling references on laws and decisions necessary for legal determinations.
Key Responsibilities:- Research and annotate laws, court decisions, documents, opinions, briefs, and legal authorities.
- Prepare legal memoranda, statements of issues, and draft opinions/orders with suggested recommendations.
- Compile references on laws and decisions for legal determinations.
- Confer with the judge on legal questions, theories, and preparation of orders.
- Attend court sessions, maintain records, and assist in jury instructions.
- Perform courtroom duties under the district court judge's supervision, including special masters or referees.
A Juris Doctorate is required. Legal research experience and excellent writing skills are essential. New graduates and experienced attorneys will be considered.
