Academic Director of Professional Experience

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Academic Director of Professional Experience to lead our initial teacher education (ITE) programs. We are seeking a talented individual who will serve as Academic Director of Professional Experience and lead this area of work in the School of Education.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching: Develop and deliver courses in initial teacher education programs, engage in curriculum design and contribute to accreditation processes, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
- Research: Establish and develop a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise honours and HDR students, recruit and manage employees as required, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Support students on placement and coordinate professional experience activities, develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
We are seeking an exceptional candidate who possesses the following qualifications and experience:
- Completion of a PhD in a relevant education or related field.
- Experience supporting preservice teachers during professional experience on initial teacher education (ITE) programs.
- Familiarity with Teacher Performance Assessments such as the GTPA and QTPA.
- Evidence of high-quality teaching in courses related to professional experience in ITE programs.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with schools, with strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- A clear and ambitious research agenda, with demonstrated engagement in research funding applications, and a track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
- Capacity to supervise Honours and/or Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
- Experience coordinating courses related to professional experience in an ITE program.
