The Production business unit enables the delivery of live performances and events in Arts Centre Melbourne's five main venues. It comprises Venue Operations, Lighting, Sound & Vision, Staging, Broadcast & Multimedia, Corporate Events, Production Management, Wardrobe and Technical Training & Development.

We are offering a career opportunity for people with a passion for technical production in the performing arts. Our Traineeship Program has been designed for individuals who have not commenced their professional careers. We look for people who want to enter the industry and gain the required skills & knowledge in technical theatre production.

You will need to satisfy our eligibility criteria:

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (for at least six months prior to applying).
  • Willing to commit to the full traineeship agreement (12 months).
  • No previous qualifications equal to or above Certificate III level in technical production.
  • Display a willingness to learn and commit to classroom based and on-the-job training.

Our traineeships include a combination of on and off-the-job learning as you work toward obtaining qualifications. You will be employed for a minimum of 25 hours per week on a variable-time contract with a guaranteed number of weekly hours.

Trainees will commence on a rate of $26.20 per hour and after the probationary period the rate will be 27.50 per hour. General terms and conditions of employment will be per the Arts Centre Melbourne Enterprise Agreement 2022.
