Engineering Internship Opportunity

This internship is designed to provide a challenging and rewarding experience for engineering students.

The role contributes to the effective management of infrastructure assets, focusing on road, footpath, bridge, drainage and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) through innovative solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, research, generate and assess solutions for various engineering-related projects and produce reports recommending appropriate courses of action.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and problem-solving in relation to municipal civil infrastructure specific to Transport and Stormwater.
  • Respond to community requests related to drainage, road and traffic infrastructure.
  • Develop survey and design briefs to initiate implementation of works resolving road, footpath, bridge, drainage, WSUD and traffic management issues.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice including letters and reports to senior staff and customers.
  • Supervise contractors engaged in construction of works and undertake general engineering studies and investigations.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering Degree program and having completed at least your first year.
  • Necessary skills and qualifications include:
    • Municipal Civil Engineering understanding and standards.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and plan/organize work allocated.
    • Liaise and communicate effectively with professional engineers and people of similar disciplines in activity administration.
    • Ability to work as an effective team member.
    • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with legislative requirements for construction activities and OH&S.
    • Awareness of relevant legislation.
