Role Summary

This position supports the Director to deliver on departmental priorities and strategies that improve economic outcomes for Aboriginal people, communities and businesses.

The role embeds an Aboriginal lens in all aspects of work programs and ensures Aboriginal inclusion is considered in all priorities.

Key goals include growing the Aboriginal business sector, improving employment and training pathways for Aboriginal people and delivering economic prosperity to Aboriginal communities.

This requires a deep understanding of Aboriginal needs and aspirations. The successful applicant will have experience providing expert advice, reports and briefs to senior leaders, as well as strong leadership skills and partnership-building abilities.

Responsibilities

The Deputy Director, Aboriginal Economic Development, will:

  • Support the Director in achieving departmental priorities and strategies
  • Embed an Aboriginal lens in all aspects of work programs
  • Ensure Aboriginal inclusion in all priorities
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience providing expert advice, reports and briefs to senior leaders
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to build partnerships with regional stakeholders, government agencies and Aboriginal organisations
