This position is primarily focused on delivering Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFF), while also encompassing a variety of essential emergency response functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting Structural Rescue and Fire Fighting (SRFF) operations.
- Responding to Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) incidents.
- Managing Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) responses.
- Engaging in Wildfire response efforts.
- Performing operator-level maintenance and functional testing of firefighting vehicles and associated equipment.
- Maintaining a high state of readiness through continuous on-the-job training.
- Providing assistance to the civilian community when necessary.
- Executing decontamination procedures for personnel and equipment exposed to hazardous agents or chemicals.
- Facilitating ongoing training for military and civilian personnel stationed at Defence facilities.
Fire Fighters operate as part of a highly skilled and dedicated team, ensuring that a minimum crew of four members is available to provide ARFF/SRFF support around the clock. Members are assigned to rotating shifts to maintain this critical service.
