Culturally Sensitive Mental Health Support
This role provides culturally sensitive mental health support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a mental illness who are experiencing homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver culturally sensitive support services within a multidisciplinary mental health setting under the direction of professional management.
- Work within a Recovery framework to assist in meeting the individual needs of Indigenous people with a mental illness who may have a co-occurring substance abuse problem and who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Contribute to the understanding of individual cases by facilitating culturally appropriate assessment and assisting with interpretation of information from a cultural perspective.

The incumbent is expected to actively contribute to the health equity agenda, supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism, increasing access to healthcare, influencing social determinants of health, and recognising the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Requirements
To be considered for this role applicants must have:
- A degree in a related field such as psychology, social work or nursing.
- Experience working in a mental health setting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
