Your New RoleAs a Mental Health Coordinator (Identified First Nations), you will provide culturally safe, high-quality services to support the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this role will focus on health awareness, follow-up care, and advocacy in addiction and mental health settings.
- Provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advocacy within multidisciplinary health teams.
- Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs including mental health, substance use, trauma, and social support.
- Deliver cultural clinical assessments, interventions, and discharge planning.
- Build strong community links and engage with stakeholders to support holistic care.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
About YouWe are seeking a culturally strong and compassionate individual who can deliver person-centred care in line with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health priorities.
- Demonstrated cultural knowledge and ability to apply this in mental health and addiction care.
- Experience providing trauma-informed care while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care principles and the social determinants of health.
