About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Project Assurance and Risk Specialist to join our Major Projects Office. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of risks and assurance across our major projects portfolio.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and improve our project assurance and risk management frameworks. You'll work closely with Project Directors, Launch Directors, and Functional Directors to provide specialist project assurance and risk advice throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and conducting assurance and risk activities across our major projects portfolio
  • Ensuring effective risk management within major projects at the portfolio level, including risk identification, planning, analysis, evaluation, management, communication, and reporting
  • Supporting the embedding of an integrated risk-based assurance model and the delivery of project maturity assessments, stage gate reviews, health checks, deep dives, and independent assurance review activities
  • Contributing risk and assurance expertise to project investment proposals, providing support and context through the governance pathway from project level to board submissions

You'll be accountable for the timely planning and delivery of assurance and risk activities, establishing and supporting assurance and risk information repositories, and providing process analysis and optimization expertise to improve business productivity.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree-level qualification in business, project management, finance, or an allied discipline, or a lower-level qualification coupled with significant experience within a project delivery environment
  • Expert knowledge of assurance and risk in large-scale, complex infrastructure project environments
  • A solid understanding of the broader context in which Powerlink operates, applying industry knowledge, regulations, and environmental factors to develop leading assurance and risk practices for the Major Projects Division
  • Proven experience with complex infrastructure projects, risk, governance, and assurance practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with proprietary software systems such as Hexagon (EcoSys), Power BI, Alteryx, and Tableau

You'll be a skilled communicator and team player, with the ability to develop and facilitate learning workshops, coach diverse teams, and identify system and process improvements.
