Job Overview

The Central Region requires a dedicated professional to provide operational support to Rural Fire Brigades and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operational assistance to local brigades, focusing on delivering quality services and engaging with volunteers for effective incident response.
  • Respond to rural fires and emergencies, offering operational guidance, mentoring, and leadership on-site or in incident control centers.
  • Contribute to operational preparedness by maintaining heavy equipment registers and conducting station audits to ensure the region's operational capabilities.
  • Support Bushfire Mitigation Officers with bushfire risk identification, providing mitigation advice to landowners, and facilitating community education initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operational Capability Coordinators to assist brigades in planning, procuring, and maintaining equipment, as well as disposing of surplus items.
  • Support fleet and station maintenance plans, ensuring assets are available for scheduled maintenance and disposal, while also managing unexpected maintenance needs.
  • Attend Rural Fire Brigade and Group meetings to provide timely updates, expert advice, and governance support to brigade committees.
  • Coordinate training delivery across the Area, District, and Region to identify training gaps and provide targeted support to volunteers.
Requirements
  • Candidates must meet the mandatory requirements outlined in the generic RFSQ Rural Officer One (RFSO1) role description.
  • Experience working with volunteers or within a volunteer organization is highly desirable.
