About the role:

As a seasoned Senior Underwriter, you will contribute to our risk management strategies at Bluestone. You will evaluate the creditworthiness of clients, assess the risk associated with lending and investment activities, and provide recommendations to support sound decision-making.

Your key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting thorough analyses of mortgage applications
  • Managing a lending delegation of up to $2.5m
  • Mentoring and supporting the professional growth of junior underwriters
  • Cultivating trusted relationships with brokers and customers
  • Providing scenario assistance to Business Development Managers and Brokers
Key skills and experience required:
  • At least 2 years of underwriting experience in the residential mortgage sector, with a focus on non-conforming mortgages
You will also possess:
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory legislation
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a strong sense of initiative
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner
  • A technical understanding of underwriting and an ability to communicate effectively to clients, customers, and colleagues
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to shape and negotiate deals
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments
