About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join our team at Whittens, a leading civil construction company in Australia. As an Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for pricing a range of civil construction infrastructure projects and leading a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce detailed cost estimates for large-scale projects valued between $10-100M
  • Lead the tenders' team to build successful tender submissions
  • Provide tender construction schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Create project execution methodologies that align with the cost estimate and construction schedule
  • Oversee the pre-contracts gate process end-to-end
  • Buid, mentor and lead the tenders team
  • Complete material take-offs
  • Prepare and price estimates in their entirety and develop detailed project budgets
  • Peer-review estimates to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare risk and opportunity analysis prior to tendering
  • Prepare tender assumptions, clarifications, and queries
  • Assist with negotiating contracts and agreements
  • Work in collaboration with operational subject matter experts to ensure tenders manage and consider risks appropriately
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Efficiently perform all stages of an estimate including methodology, estimate organisation, take-off, pricing, review, and close-out
  • Facilitate project handover including cost coding and variation pricing
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar Senior Estimating role within the Civil Construction industry with exposure to self-perform Civil tenders including Earthworks/Concrete/FRP/NPI/Roadworks/Drainage
  • Formal tertiary education in QS, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Contracts Management or similar - Desirable
  • A minimum of 10 years estimating experience
  • Understanding of the National Code of Practice, procurement and construction methodology
  • Experience with tenders on large-scale projects valuing from $10-100M
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and lead a high-functioning team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Expert Estimating software experience - Primavera C P6 and MS Project
