This role is for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager who can lead a dynamic team in the delivery of high-quality primary health care to approximately 1,700 inmates from diverse backgrounds.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of health services, while managing staff performance and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Provide effective leadership, direction, and support to health staff.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure safe, evidence-based nursing practice and compliance with policies and standards.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources, staffing levels, effectively.
  • Incident and Complaint Management: Oversee incident and complaint management, reporting, and quality audits.
  • Clinical Governance: Contribute to clinical governance and accreditation process.
  • Staff Development: Lead performance management, staff development, and induction of new staff and students.

About You:
  • You are a registered nurse with current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • You hold a Bachelor of Nursing and postgraduate qualifications in management or a clinical specialty (or working towards).
  • You have previous experience as a Nurse Unit Manager or in a senior healthcare leadership role.
  • You possess strong people leadership and change management skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • You have proven ability to develop and implement policies and drive continuous improvement.
  • You have high-level communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
