Job Title: Disability Support Worker
The role of a Disability Support Worker is to provide tailored, person-centred care to individuals living with disability. This includes supporting people with complex needs and advocating for their rights and choices.
This position involves working in a variety of settings, including shared housing and client homes, to provide daily living assistance and support with personal care routines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with daily personal care routines, including bathing, shaving, and toileting
- Provide active support for clients with high medical and complex needs, remaining calm and reassuring during unpredictable situations using de-escalation techniques
- Assist with peg feeding and catheter care, focusing on comfort and safety, with training available for new tasks
- Track and document clients' changing needs while fostering positive relationships with clients, families, and team members, advocating for client choice and control with a focus on safety and compliance
Requirements:
- Hold an unrestricted NSW driver's licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Demonstrated competency in basic technology usage on mobile and desktop platforms
- Current First Aid Certificate, including HLTAID003 or HLTAID011, or willingness to obtain

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our organisation and continue our mission to empower people with disability to live independently. Skills & Experience:
- Ability to work morning shifts, as early as 6am, and at short notice to cover sick leave is required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, families, and team members
- Compassion and empathy, with the ability to remain calm and reassuring during unpredictable situations
Training & Development:
We offer training and development opportunities to support you in your role, including training available for new tasks such as peg feeding and catheter care.
