The Chief Engineer is a critical member of the SeaLink South Australia's Marine Operations crew, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Company vessel engines and mechanical systems.
This role requires a high level of work ethics, interpersonal and organisational skills, and effective written and verbal communication abilities. The Chief Engineer oversees the Engineers' work practices, standards and performance, and assists with deck loading operations.
A sound knowledge of the vessels is essential to all aspects of this role. The Chief Engineer works 7 days on, 7 days off and at times outside of these hours during periods of annual slipping and maintenance requirements.
This role reports to the Master of the vessel and will be working in close conjunction with the Marine Operations Manager, and the Marine Maintenance Manager.
About You- Problem solving and engineering diagnostic skills

- Advanced computer literacy, verbal, and written communication skills
- Organisational, planning and scheduling skills
- Ability to perform autonomously and delegate tasks where required
- Flexibility and reliability
- Ability to handle difficult situations
Key requirements include Marine Engineer Class 3 certification, current Driver's licence, current First Aid and CPR, and Confined Spaces qualification. Experience and skills in areas such as Master, Master Heavy Rigid and Forklift licence, and Elevated Work Platform licence are desirable.
