We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in Cairns. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a difference in the lives of individuals with mental health challenges.
About the RoleThis fixed-term, part-time position at our Community Care Unit will involve providing intensive support to clients transitioning from hospital to community living. As a Community Mental Health Practitioner, you will work closely with clients, families, and carers to empower them to achieve recovery goals and live independently.
Key Responsibilities- Support clients to return to their communities and live independently.
- Engage clients using evidence-based interventions, such as brief interventions, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and family-inclusive practice.
- Plan and deliver group programs to promote recovery and skill-building.
- Collaborate with community services to ensure coordinated and integrated support.
- Contribute to daily residential operations, including housekeeping duties.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Experience working with people with mental health challenges and complex needs, including families and carers.
- Proven ability to implement therapeutic frameworks and practices, including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care and family inclusive practice.
