Key objectives of the role include contributing to Council's Annual Fire Safety Statement Program, ensuring timely submission and assessment of statements in accordance with legislative requirements.

High level of customer service is expected, with a focus on delivering regulatory outcomes that enhance public safety standards within the Blue Mountains Local Government Area.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day functions associated with Council's building fire safety program, including database management, data audits, extension of time requests, and customer inquiries.

- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to monitor/surveilance fire safety standards for buildings.

- Investigate and exercise regulatory functions, issuing development control orders or fines as necessary to address building fire safety issues.

- Represent Council in legal proceedings related to fire safety protection, preparing evidence on behalf of Council in consultation with solicitors.

- Develop and maintain knowledge of current legislation, policies, and procedures governing Council's fire safety program.

- Work collaboratively with staff to review, develop, and implement processes enhancing various aspects of public safety and amenity within the built environment.
