Legal Advisor - Governance and Integrity

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Legal Advisor to join our team in the Office of General Counsel. As a Legal Advisor, you will provide independent legal advice and services across various areas, including information access, privacy, complaints, public interest disclosures, and administrative law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage requests under GIPA and Standing Order 52
  • Provide legal advice and draft documents, including contracts, agreements, and submissions
  • Support investigations and responses to ICAC, NSW Ombudsman, and other regulatory bodies
  • Advise on privacy, complaints, and governance matters
  • Collaborate with Treasury teams to promote ethical conduct and compliance
  • Contribute to system and process improvements that enhance transparency and accountability

Requirements:

  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW and a current practising certificate
  • Experience in government and/or governance advisory roles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to at least two of the following: GIPA, SO52, PID, privacy, administrative law, investigations, or complaints handling
  • Ability to work autonomously and make justifiable decisions
