Senior Psychiatric Services Leader

Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Adult Mental Health ED and Inpatient teams at Princess Alexandra Hospital. This key role will provide high-quality psychiatric services and clinical leadership to support the strategic direction for exceptional service provision in the hospital's catchment area.

About the Role

  • Deliver direct psychiatric care to mental health consumers in Princess Alexandra Hospital, guiding Community Mental Health Teams to deliver outstanding patient care.
  • Provide strong clinical leadership in care provision and develop/review practice, procedures, protocols, and policies supporting timely, seamless care for mental health consumers within the hospital's services.
  • Contribute significantly to professional knowledge through conference presentations and publications in reputable journals.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary Mental Health team members in continuous professional development activities.
  • Comply with Authorised Psychiatrist and Clinical Director role provisions under the Mental Health Act 2016, including timely completion of legal reports and attendance at MHRT meetings.
  • Cultivate an environment promoting education, quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and reflective learning.
  • Offer supervision and teaching opportunities to Registrars, Junior Medical Staff, RANCZP trainees, and other professionals within the Service.
  • Demonstrate capacity to lead research, learning, and evaluation activity.

Requirements

  • Adhere to the Authorised Psychiatrist and Clinical Director role provisions as per the Mental Health Act 2016, ensuring timely completion of required reports.
  • Exhibit leadership capacity in research, learning, and evaluation activities.
  • Provide training and mentorship opportunities to registrars, junior medical staff, RANCZP trainees, and other professionals within the Service.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary Mental Health team professional development activities.
