Lead Fleet Engineer - Mechanical Systems

Our organization is seeking an accomplished Lead Fleet Engineer to oversee the optimal performance and maintenance of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. As a key member, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless operations, troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, and providing expertise on machine performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a visible Safety Leader, proactively promoting a culture of safety and continually improving processes.
  • Fault-find mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic control systems in the field.
  • Assume responsibility for machine mechanical performance in the field, serving as the subject matter expert on machines and their operation.
  • Participate in field trials, conduct daily maintenance on machinery, calibrate, and verify machine performance.
  • Attend testing sites, address mechanical failures, and develop solutions.
  • Review machine performance logs, collaborate with R&D teams to enhance machine capabilities.
  • Manage relationships with mechanical service partners, administer work orders, and facilitate parts requests.
  • Develop localized training content tailored to the Australian market.

Requirements:

  • A background as a Heavy Machine Mechanical Fitter, Fleet Manager, or Team Leader is highly regarded.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with heavy diesel machinery, specifically Cummins engines, and associated hydraulic and electronic control systems.
  • Advanced fault-finding abilities in machine mechanical systems.
  • Affinity for mechanical machinery and equipment.
  • Ideal experience within the materials supply and construction industry.
  • Preferably experience within a business excellence environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Will to travel to remote sites.
  • A valid Australian driving license.
  • Australian citizenship or Permanent Residence.
