Job Title: Key Operations ManagerDescription:

The Chief Engineer is a pivotal role, responsible for overseeing the entire engineering operations of hotel systems, plant, and equipment.

This critical position involves managing a team of engineers, ensuring efficient resource utilization while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.

  • Lead the Engineering Team in day-to-day operations, including service standards, equipment schedules, safety protocols, and work schedules.
  • Implement and maintain a proactive maintenance program to ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order.
  • Coordinate services performed by outside contractors in accordance with contracts and service agreements.
  • Collaborate with departments like Housekeeping and Front Office to ensure seamless operations.

The ideal candidate will possess electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trade qualifications, advanced knowledge of building management/engineering, and excellent communication and collaborative skills.

A hands-on and approachable leader with previous experience managing and training a team is essential.

This role requires flexibility with rostering and availability 24/7 in case of an emergency.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Australian building codes and regulations.
  • Maintain the hotel's assets, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Develop and implement energy-efficient initiatives to conserve energy and introduce sustainable systems and equipment.
  • Manage maintenance expenses, tracking costs and identifying cost-saving measures.
  • Coordinate renovation projects, defining project scope and budget, and overseeing general contractors and subcontractors.
Requirements:
  • Educational background in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trade.
  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering.
  • Motivated, self-driven individual with a passion for delivering consistency.
  • Flexibility with rostering and available 24/7 in case of an emergency.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
