Senior Compliance Advisor

Credit Union Australia is looking for a dedicated Senior Analyst, Regulatory Compliance to become a vital member of the Enterprise Compliance team on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering thorough compliance guidance and constructive challenge to the organization's Line 1 divisions concerning both routine operations and new initiatives. You will also support enterprise risk management efforts and contribute to the advancement of the organization's compliance framework.

Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders is essential for success in this position.

This role offers the flexibility to work from home two days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

You will collaborate closely with various business units as a Compliance advisor.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the team in addressing regulatory compliance issues, including interpreting regulatory guidance, managing emerging regulatory changes, and liaising with regulators;
  • Overseeing the Breach Management program, including evaluation and reporting to the appropriate regulatory bodies;
  • Serving as the Compliance lead for relevant divisions, thematic reviews, and new initiatives, providing subject matter expertise and coordinating additional compliance advisory support as needed;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness and relevance of the organization's Enterprise Compliance Framework in relation to its current products and services;
  • Supporting the completion of assurance reviews for both the broader compliance program and specific compliance issues;
  • Contributing to the revision of relevant Policies, Standards, and other supporting documents to ensure alignment with external regulatory changes and internal requirements;
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and papers for relevant Risk Governance Committees and Board reporting; and representing Enterprise Compliance in pertinent meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
About You:

You should possess between 3 to 5 years of experience in Financial Services Compliance, ideally within the Banking sector, which includes prior responsibilities for:
o Providing compliance advice and constructive challenge;
o Coordinating Breach Management programs, including evaluation and reporting to relevant regulators;
o Monitoring the Financial Services landscape for emerging regulatory changes; and
o Governance reporting related to the above.

  • A degree in Law, Business, or a related field.
  • A solid understanding and practical experience with contemporary Compliance and Operational Risk Frameworks.
  • Familiarity with relevant Financial Services sector standards, including legislation, regulation, prudential standards, and codes, including but not limited to combinations of the following: APRA prudential standards, Corporations Act, Customer-Owned Banking Code of Practice, Privacy Act, and the AML/CTF Act.
  • A strong understanding of ASIC breach and remediation requirements.
Proven experience in enterprise-level compliance roles, including:
o Working in Line 2 roles that support diverse divisions; &
o Developing and nurturing effective and collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders.
