Pricing Data Scientist

About the Role

This highly technical position supports the end-to-end pricing of our insurance products through data preparation, analysis, modeling, technical review, and presenting insights to management.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide high-quality data insights that enable informed business decisions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Pricing team in making insurance pricing decisions through robust, accurate, and timely data-driven analysis.
  • Understanding sources of data, its limitations and common uses within the team.
  • Managing and manipulating very large data sets.
  • Conducting technical analysis as directed, including building predictive models.
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and extrapolating data from a number of sources to resolve complex issues.
  • Drawing insights and providing recommendations on next steps.
  • Explaining work and communicating findings to senior management.
  • Performing regular reporting.
  • Implementing complex rating changes and quantifying the expected impact on the portfolio.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of general insurance industry experience.
  • An analytical mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Programming knowledge (e.g., SQL, SAS, R, Python).
  • Experience in building predictive models is viewed favorably.
  • Degree qualified in mathematics, actuarial studies or similar.
  • Progressing through the actuarial examinations is viewed favorably.
