Disability Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate disability support specialist to assist clients with community participation, daily life skills, and household tasks. The role involves transporting clients to appointments.

To be successful in this position, you will need to have a good understanding of how to support individuals living with disabilities. You must be passionate about helping others maintain their quality of life and possess strong listening and communication skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish effective relationships with staff, management, participants, family, and friends to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Liaise with participants' family and friends to explore new goals, ambitions, and promote empowerment.
  • Increase participants' skills through active support and promote independence by enhancing skills and personal development.
  • Provide regular and frequent quality and professional support in line with participants' plans, needs, and wants.
  • Assist participants in accessing social communities to engage with friends and social groups promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Requirements:

  • A good understanding of how to support individuals living with disabilities.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic towards clients.

This is a casual position with various shifts available, including afternoons, days, evenings, Mondays to Fridays, mornings, public holidays, rotating rosters, and weekend availability.
