Job Title: Communication Specialist

The role of a Communication Specialist is to manage the day-to-day communication for the ACT Executive. This involves issuing media alerts, media releases and media statements as well as being the primary point of contact for Government Ministers.

Successful applicants will be required to establish and maintain productive relationships with local and national journalists in order to support the Government's objectives. They will also need to have high level oral and written communication skills and be able to perform in a high-pressure environment with competing deadlines and priorities.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues effectively. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in managing communications in a fast-paced environment and will possess a tertiary qualification in communication, arts or journalism.

Eligible candidates must have at least three years' experience in a communication or journalism position and an understanding of the roles and functions of the ACT Government. A strong knowledge of the Canberra community and its issues is also desirable.
