As the Engineering Manager - Unit Plant within the Engineering and Project Team, you will lead a team of skilled engineers responsible for delivering asset management and providing technical support for the boiler and turbine facilities. Your role will involve developing long-term asset strategies, defining outage scopes, creating budgets for maintenance and capital projects, and ensuring compliance with engineering, quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Formulating, managing, and refining asset management strategies to meet performance targets amidst increasing demands for flexibility and availability.
  • Overseeing issue identification, diagnostics, and improvement initiatives aligned with operational reliability standards.
  • Developing and approving maintenance and capital outage plans while reviewing proposals for new and modified plant assets, including budget considerations.
  • Leading and nurturing a team of specialized engineers through effective leadership, technical guidance, and support.
  • Ensuring all plant asset systems adhere to internal and external safety standards while acting as a proactive safety leader within the organization.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience. A postgraduate qualification in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering is advantageous.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of heavy industry operations, particularly in power generation, along with strong analytical skills to tackle complex challenges.
  • Proven ability to coordinate teams and manage complex projects, demonstrating leadership and the capacity to coach in high-pressure situations.
  • Capability to hold team members accountable for meeting deadlines while promoting flexibility and well-being.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and facilitation skills for effective collaboration with various management levels and external organizations, complemented by strong written and verbal communication abilities.
