We are seeking a highly experienced Native Title Lawyer to lead our legal services division. As a Principal Lawyer, you will provide strategic legal advice and manage a high-performing team. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in Native Title law and Indigenous rights advocacy.
About the RoleOur client, a leading not-for-profit organisation, is committed to advancing Indigenous self-determination. As a Principal Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing high-level legal advice on Native Title, Cultural Heritage, and related matters. You will also lead and mentor a legal team, ensuring the delivery of top-tier legal services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic legal advice on Native Title, Cultural Heritage, and related matters.
- Lead and mentor a legal team, ensuring the delivery of top-tier legal services.
- Oversee legal strategies for native title claims, compensation applications, and agreements.
- Collaborate with the Executive Management Team to deliver on strategic goals.
- Represent the organisation in significant legal forums and government negotiations.
- $225,000+ (Neg depending on skills and experience) + superannuation + company vehicle, and salary sacrificing options.
- Leadership role with significant impact in Native Title law and Indigenous rights advocacy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Lawyer or Senior Legal Practitioner with a passion for working in the fields of Native Title, Cultural Heritage, and corporate law. You will have strong leadership capabilities and the ability to navigate complex legal and political environments.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified legal practitioner with a current Practicing Certificate to practice in Queensland or ability to rapidly acquire one.
- Extensive experience in Native Title law, cultural heritage, and corporations law.
- Proven leadership experience, managing a legal team in a high-performing environment.
- Strong litigation experience, including court appearances and drafting legal documents.
- Excellent negotiation skills in commercial agreements and legal disputes.
- A commitment to Indigenous self-determination and advocacy for First Nations people.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including some weekends.
