Are you a driven professional with a passion for Aboriginal heritage? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior heritage advisor to lead our Victorian Aboriginal heritage team based in Melbourne.

This is a great chance for an experienced practitioner ready to step up into a leadership role or an experienced leader seeking a move into a specialist heritage consultancy run by heritage professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead our Victorian Aboriginal heritage team
  • Pursue new research and contribute to shaping the methods and direction of Aboriginal heritage research
  • Mentor the next generation of Aboriginal heritage practitioners
Essential (Selection) Criteria:
  1. Appropriate degree with Honours or equivalent
  2. 7+ years' experience in Cultural Resource Management within an Australian context
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage management in Victoria
  4. Demonstrated experience in client liaison, project management, directing project teams, working to deadlines within budget constraints, developing and mentoring junior staff, and engaging and managing subcontractors
  5. Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal community consultation
  6. Demonstrated extensive experience in field investigations and recording, research, and heritage impact assessments
  7. Demonstrated ability to scope and cost projects, prepare complex assessment and management reports to a high professional standard
  8. Detailed knowledge of relevant Victorian and Commonwealth legislation
  9. Demonstrated experience in heritage sector business operations and strategic planning
  10. Demonstrated ability to meet quality, health and safety, and environmental requirements
  11. Knowledge of principles and best practice guidelines as outlined in the Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter
  12. Valid Australian Drivers' licence
  13. Construction Industry Safety Induction (White Card)
Desirable Criteria:
  1. Active research interests and involvement with professional bodies
  2. Specialist skills in one or more of the following: artefact analysis, GIS, surveying, geomorphology, geoarchaeology, geochronology, anthropology, ethno-historical research, cultural values and oral history recording, community engagement, archival photographic recording, and/or heritage interpretation
