Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an accomplished Operations Specialist to join our team. As an Operational Technical Officer - Pinjarra, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and affordable operation of our network.

About the Role:

  • This is a challenging position that requires specialist technical skills and experience in networks construction, maintenance, and operations field practices and procedures.
  • You will be responsible for performing complex technical tasks, providing technical support and advice, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Your expertise will be essential in maintaining and developing the operational workforce through training and competency assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Performing specialist complex technical tasks on Western Power's network.
  2. Providing construction and maintenance technical support and advice relating to the transmission and/or distribution network.
  3. Identifying new technologies, plant, equipment, training and works practices improving operational ability to be safe, reliable, and affordable.
  4. Facilitating ongoing skill maintenance and development to the Operational Workforce through the provision of training courses/programs and competency-based assessments.
  5. Identifying, evaluating, and implementing opportunities for improving processes, work instructions, systems and outputs through continuous improvement and standardisation across operational areas.

Requirements:

  • Current trade qualifications - Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Distribution Cable Jointing and/or Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Distribution Overhead or Electrical Workers Licence.
  • At least 6+ years specialist technical experience in networks construction, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures.
  • Application of trade and post trade skills and competencies to suit local business requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering/design standards, regulations, and procedures applicable to the area.
  • Sound communications skills, both written and verbal that enable effective interaction between key stakeholders.
  • Specialist technical experience and demonstrated knowledge in transmission and/or distribution network investigating, evaluating, and reporting.
  • Willingness to work and travel to other depot locations, as required.
  • Proficiency in use of key computer business systems, and competency in all the major business and office software.

About You:

  • You have current trade qualifications and at least 6+ years specialist technical experience in networks construction, maintenance, and operations field practices and procedures.
  • You possess excellent communication skills and can effectively interact with key stakeholders.
  • You are willing to work and travel to other depot locations, as required.
  • You have proficiency in the use of key computer business systems and major business and office software.
