Job Summary

Austal is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer/Naval Architect to provide technical assistance for the delivery of contract engineering support services. The successful candidate will apply engineering expertise to ensure asset capability and integrity is maintained in accordance with business expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement Engineering Change Proposals and designs to ensure asset capability and integrity.
  2. Conduct technical risk analysis and awareness to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
  3. Execute engineering investigations and provide timely execution of engineering tasks.
  4. Develop and review technical instructions and Requests for Problem Resolution to ensure effective communication and resolution of technical issues.
  5. Promote and engage a HSEQ culture across all activities to support effective HSEQ compliance.
  6. Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives through corrective actions arising from incidents or non-conformances.
Requirements
  1. Formal degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline, recognised by Engineers Australia as being suitable for registration in the Professional Engineer (Member) category (or working towards).
  2. Australian Citizen, if the role requires the Department of Defence and/or the Department of Home Affairs Security Clearances.
  3. Well-developed communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  4. 3 years' experience in a sustainment engineering role, with knowledge of asset management standards, systems, and processes.
  5. Capable of achieving Level 4 Authorised Engineering Authority delegation under the Navy Technical Regulatory System or equivalent.
  6. Understanding of technical risk management and safety systems, with complex problem-solving skills.
  7. Competency in Microsoft Office and standard engineering software, with a White Card.
