About the Role:

The Senior Policy Officer in the Public Health Prevention Programs Team will support and contribute to the development of state-wide and community level preventive health policies and programs. This includes influencing national and state policy outcomes and contract management with health prevention partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective policy solutions to address health and wellbeing issues in the Victorian community.
  • Provide high-quality policy advice and recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research and analysis.
  • Monitor and report on high-priority issues, risks, and trends, and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, and Cabinet submissions.
  • Manage key unit projects, including setting up, monitoring, and managing contracts with external providers to ensure high-quality outputs are delivered within agreed timeframes and budget.
  • Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.
  • Forge strong connections across the department and with the health sector to share information and facilitate a partnership approach to implementation of key initiatives.
  • Coordinate and develop complex briefing products for Cabinet, Ministerial, senior departmental executive, and executive sector stakeholders.
  • Work across multiple projects, including engaging with stakeholders, and working in multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging pressures and demands, as required.
