About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HR Policy Officer to join our People Policy team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and driving employment relations legislation and policy change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies and guidelines that support the AFP's employment framework and ensure consistent and fair decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice to AFP leaders and employees on employment-related matters, including interpreting Commonwealth legislation and AFP employment frameworks and principles.
  • Lead engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and foster a harmonious and risk-aware work environment.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop and maintain a harmonious and resilient team environment, constantly pursuing continuous improvement.
  • Represent the branch at internal and external forums and lead the development of projects, policies, and guidelines.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced HR professional with a strong background in employment relations and policy development. You will have a proven track record of driving change and improving employment practices, as well as excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

You will be an Australian citizen at the time of application and hold a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or be able to obtain one. Relevant work experience in a HR role or HR Policy team is essential, and tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or progress towards this outcome would be highly regarded.
