This position entails providing expert guidance for business initiatives, overseeing and delivering robust infrastructure solutions. The role involves transforming, modernising, and supporting critical workloads across both on-premise infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.
The Role's Key Responsibilities- Develop infrastructure roadmaps, planning and implementing changes to enhance performance, meet audit and security requirements, and participating in system patching and upgrades with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Undertake new education and learning opportunities to strengthen the infrastructure footprint and share knowledge across technology teams.
You will join our team within the Technology division, specifically in Technical Services, reporting directly to the Technical Services Team Leader. This team is at the forefront of ensuring high performance, reliability, and security across all applications and infrastructure, working closely with various technical teams to deliver rapid, high-quality solutions.
Main Job Functions- Contribute to infrastructure platforms to meet current and future organisational needs.
- Provide responsive and specialist technical support as a Subject Matter Expert.
- Share knowledge to develop technical roadmaps and act as the technical lead for project planning and implementation of improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the infrastructure platform's performance, reliability, scalability, efficiency, and security.
- Participate in the cloud migration process, evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve the platform's performance and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to automate deployment and maintenance processes, ensure system availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Infrastructure Technology knowledge base and procedures.
- Contribute to building capability in junior staff through the sharing of knowledge and experience, active training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Act as a level 3 escalation and contact point for critical and intricate problems where in-depth knowledge is required.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulations.
- Maintain awareness, understanding, and compliance with company policies and procedures, including the completion of mandatory training.
- Undertake studies of new technologies and innovations to navigate the complexities of infrastructure technologies and drive innovation.
- Demonstrable solid understanding and practical experience of relevant system administration, operations, support, and solutions implementation.
- Ability to articulate technical solutions to business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Advanced hands-on system administration, problem-solving, and knowledge of two or more of the following technologies:
- NetApp ONTAP
- AWS S3 and AWS FSx file systems
- VMware vSphere
- DELL PowerEdge or similar HCI solutions
- AWS Compute Services
- Microsoft SQL Server
- AWS Database Services
- Cohesity Data Protect
- Microsoft AD DS
- Windows Server
- Knowledge of systems security, administration practices, standards, and policies.
- Systems automation, scheduling, and scripting.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience with an agile framework.
- Familiarity with CPS234 or ISO27002 (or similar) frameworks.
- One or more industry-recognised technical certifications within AWS, VMware, Cohesity, NetApp, DELL, or Microsoft.
- CIS Benchmark experience.
- Enterprise monitoring suites such as New Relic or similar.
- Infrastructure Architecture principles, knowledge, and experience.
