About the Role

As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing cardiac echocardiograms on both inpatient and outpatient populations using advanced ultrasound technology. This is a part-time (24hpw), fixed-term position for 12 months.

You will play a key role as part of the dedicated cardiology team within the Imaging Department at Calvary Mater Newcastle, providing safe, effective, and patient-centred care within a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Record and archive appropriate study images to the image archive system.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Includes administration duties such as the computerized data entry of patient demographics and recording of anomalies in patient notes.
  • Participate in clinical trials.
  • Triaging of request forms and test required.
  • Interfacing with the Wards and Units in often stressful situations.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require a Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (Cardiac) or equivalent and current ASAR accreditation as a fully qualified sonographer. You will also need to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to transcribe data accurately.

A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent is also required, along with a demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development.
