Job Description

The role of a Technical Operations Specialist is crucial in providing specialist communications support capability to all teams on operations nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement specific communication plans to support command, control, and coordination of operations;
  • Enable command and control through mobile voice and data services for the transfer of orders and instructions;
  • Provide access to established or ad-hoc networks for voice transmission;
  • Provide technical reconnaissance using drones, cameras, and photos for operational planning and situation awareness;
  • Provide specialist Computer Aided Dispatch phone and electronic access;
  • Act as an embedded tactical field communications function;
  • Provide technical advice to stakeholders on tactical communications;
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including the Defence Force, on complex and technical communication matters;
  • Establish and maintain tactical communications systems/networks in accordance with operational plans;
  • Provide initial and skills enhancement tactical communications training.

Requirements:

  • A Top Secret Security clearance;
  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role;
  • Minimum two years' work experience in a related field;
  • Communications Land Mobile Radio skills;
  • Mesh Radio/IP Networking Training/Qualifications;
  • Communication Field Operations experience;
  • Cryptographic handling procedures;
  • Radio Frequency Spectrum industry experience;
  • Antenna systems knowledge;
  • Network fault finding industry experience;
  • Understanding of WHS procedures/practices.

This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours and shift patterns. In addition to their Base Salary, employees will receive a Core Composite of 22% which will count as salary for superannuation.
