Residential Care Officer

Job Summary:

The Residential Care Officer plays a vital role in providing personalized care and support to residents, promoting their dignity and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the individual needs of residents and develop tailored care plans.
  • Conduct informal assessments and engage with residents to understand their challenges.
  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and provide timely updates to the care team.
  • Refer residents to external services or specialists as needed.
  • Facilitate access to health, housing, employment, and social services for broader community benefits.
  • Engage with local organizations and community groups to raise awareness of available resources.
  • Offer emotional and practical support to families and individuals, including those with complex needs.
  • Assist in managing behaviors and maintaining safety.
  • Guide young or vulnerable residents in resolving social, emotional, or financial concerns.
  • Contribute to preparing funding proposals and service reports.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Community Services, Aged Care, or related field.
  • Minimum one year experience in a similar care or support role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work across day and night shifts in a dynamic residential setting.
  • Additional language skills are an asset.
  • Valid Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Commitment to promoting resident dignity and independence.
