Senior Community Engagement and Communications Manager

About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Communications & Engagement Advisor to provide crucial community and stakeholder engagement advice and oversee communications activities for the M7-M12 Integration Project. This significant infrastructure project will provide direct access to the new Western Sydney airport.
In this unique opportunity, you'll provide leadership in communication, collaborating closely with contractors and key stakeholders. You'll support communities, build trust, and lead social license initiatives. You'll also create compelling content, proactively identify and address emerging issues, and ensure compliance with Deed requirements and Planning Conditions of Approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in community and stakeholder engagement for the M7-M12 Integration Project
- Identify and mitigate potential community and stakeholder issues
- Collaborate with Transport for NSW and the D&C contractor communication and engagement teams
- Monitor compliance with Deed requirements and Planning Conditions
- Review collateral produced by the D&C Contractor
- Organise and participate in Community Consultative Committees and other key stakeholder groups
- Support the delivery of social value initiatives along the project corridor
- Create presentations and communications collateral
- Foster innovation in communications
- Drive project-related campaigns on benefits, sustainability, and safety
- Lead legacy initiatives benefiting the community
- Develop content for positive project positioning
- Assist with managing media inquiries
- Compile reports and documents for the Project and Transurban
- Ensure content consistency, accuracy, and currency across multiple channels
- Support broader community engagement across NSW Assets as required
Requirements
- Extensive experience working on a major infrastructure project, ideally in the community engagement space
- An understanding of how major construction projects work in terms of their role interfacing with local communities
- Ability to identify communications key risks and their impact on reputation and trust
- Experience in managing project events, milestone celebrations, assisting with media opportunities and major campaigns
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to produce high-quality written material for a range of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- High-level strategic thinking, organisational and administrative skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative and work in an autonomous environment
- Tertiary qualifications with a focus on Communications or Public Relations
