About the Job

Mind Australia is a leading community-managed specialist mental health service provider.

We support people living with the day-to-day impacts of mental illness, their families, friends and carers.

The Role

The Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services provide a continuum of care and support.

This role requires self-motivated individuals to champion the voice of lived experience and advocate for human rights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge and abilities gained from lived experiences to support development across work areas
  • Work in an Intentional Peer Support Model to walk alongside people through outreach and assist with understanding their lives holistically
  • Plan, develop, facilitate and evaluate group work programs based on relational practice and peer work principles
  • Assist service users with system navigation and linkages to community agencies or support systems
  • Reflect on personal lived experience and broader knowledge base and use this in practice
Requirements
  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced Training or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work is desirable but not required
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs or other health related field will be considered
  • Lived/living experience of mental distress and recovery and understanding of, and ability and willingness to, contribute Lived Expertise in working towards greater organisational impact
  • Previous experience in using lived experience and Expertise in a dedicated Peer role strongly desirable
  • Passion to drive and champion change initiatives and progress the Lived Experience agenda throughout the organisation
