About the Role

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking a skilled Rocket Operations Technician to join our team at the Bowen Orbital Launch Site. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the site's mechanical and fluid systems, ensuring the smooth running of launch operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, plant, and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Conduct site maintenance and repairs as required, working closely with technicians and engineers to resolve issues.
  • Manage and conduct environmental monitoring on site, ensuring compliance with company and legislative requirements.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance procedures to ensure all launch site systems and equipment are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Implement site modifications and infrastructure projects, working with contractors and tradespeople as needed.
  • Install fluid system components from engineering drawings, including valves, actuators, pumps, and chillers.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues with fluid and mechanical systems, working with the team to resolve problems.
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers to ensure the highest level of quality in all systems, supporting 100% successful launch of our launch vehicles.
  • Operate forklifts, elevated work platforms, and power tools as required.
  • Perform hands-on operations with large and small, fragile assemblies.
  • Assist with the implementation of site safety and risk management systems, as required by senior management.
Requirements
  • Trade qualification in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Valid Australian Open Drivers License.
  • Forklift License (preferred).
  • NV1 Security Clearance eligible (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Understanding and application of valves, actuators, pumps, chillers, and mechanics.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Experience working on large and small, fragile assemblies.
  • Ability to work well in an integrated team, including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to bring multiple disciplines together.
  • Self-motivated, with strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
